Navy N-1 Deck Jacket

Navy N-1 Deck Jacket

The N-1 Deck Jacket was issued to crew members of U.S. Navy warships from the 1940s to the 1950s. The early model featured a thick-wale cotton pique shell, with a plain front and a ā€œU.S. NAVYā€ stencil print on the back in navy color. From the later model, a fine-wale cotton pique called "jungle cloth" (commonly known as jungle cross) was adopted, and the print was moved from the back to the chest. The lining was made of alpaca, which offered excellent warmth and durability (later changed to an alpaca and wool blend). To improve concealment on ships and at ports, the color was changed from navy to tan (khaki) starting from the later models. Known for its excellent cold resistance and high completeness, the jacket was highly regarded by sailors and continued to be used by some until the early 1960s, making it a masterpiece among military jackets.

Material: Lining: 40% Alpaca / Polyester blend
- Fabric Features: This item is a reproduction of the second-generation standard N-1 jacket (with "U.S. NAVY" print on the chest), faithfully following the original details. The outer fabric uses a thick and fine-wale jungle cloth reproduced based on the original N-1, offering excellent cold and wind resistance along with high durability. The lining is made of a 40% alpaca and polyester blend, which is soft and skin-friendly with minimal shedding, allowing it to be worn comfortably even over a T-shirt without itchiness. It also requires no special care and is machine washable. Ventilation holes under the arms help reduce stuffiness. The inner cuffs are ribbed in tiers for a better fit, and the hem has an adjustable drawcord for a customizable fit. The front wind flap prevents drafts and zipper corrosion, while the collar includes a chin strap for stand-collar styling. These features are designed to protect against the cold in various ways.
- Recommended to dry clean, or machine wash cold on gentle cycle. Hang to dry.
